Environment, Infrastructure, Local content take center stage at 4th Oil and Gas Conference tomorrow
Whereas the 4th Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition has continuously missed the presence of exploration companies, government officials and policymakers in the past two days discussions tomorrow will see various stakeholders meet the sector industry issues.
Today discussions mainly surrounded other sources of energy including Wind, Geothermal and Nuclear.
Among speakers set to grace the conference tomorrow include the Commissioner for petroleum Ministry for Energy & Petroleum Martin Heya as well as Cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Environment & Natural Resources Prof. Judi Wakhungu.
Heya will give a general overview of the Oil and Gas Sector in Kenya while the cabinet secretary will discuss sustainable ways of exploiting natural resources for economic development.
Other experts expected to make presentations include Mary Mukindia Kimotho an Oil and Gas Consultant, former National Oil managing director Mwendia Nyaga, as well as Dr. Pam Namai CEO Africa Energy Association.
Mukindia will focus her discussions on Kenya as an emerging market for investment in oil and gas infrastructure Development, while Nyaga will discuss issues of Local Content in oil and gas industry in Eastern Africa. Dr Namai who today presented on local content and sustainability in energy industry will give a case study on the geopolitics of oil and gas with focus on Nigeria and Angola.
Discussions will in the afternoon also shift towards the role of civil society as a gate keeper for vulnerable communities in oil and gas sector in a presentation by Lynn Turyatemba-Gitu of International Alert Uganda while the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry is expected to discuss how it is fostering investor confidence in oil and gas industry.
Biogen a company producing biodiesel is also expected to be a crowd puller when its technical and marketing director Brian Piti discusses green fuel and biodiesel recycling biogens for green fuel.
The conference and exhibition that opened its doors on Monday has attracted exhibitors from 22 countries and visitors from the entire region.
