ANGOLA: Arrival of the SMS Probe Strengthens the Production Capacity of Block 2/05
The National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and the Contractor Group of Block 2/05, operated by Etu Energias, in association with Poliedro, Kotoil, Falcon Oil and Prodoil, announce the arrival of the SMS ESSA Probe in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province, thus marking a decisive step towards increasing oil production in Block 2/05 and towards Angola’s objectives in this area.
With the entry into operation of this jack-up rig, an intensive phase of redevelopment of the Block begins, which includes the drilling of at least three development wells, one exploration well, and five workovers on existing wells. This campaign is in line with the minimum commitment made by Etu Energias and its partners and is an essential component of the growth strategy approved by ANPG, the National Concessionaire.
Manufactured in 2020 at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyards and equipped to operate in water depths of up to 30 meters, the SMS ESSA Probe is classified as “fit for purpose” and brings with it high-performance technical capabilities.
For ANPG’s Chairman of the Board, Paulino Jerónimo ,
” the implementation of the project bringing the SMS ESSA Rig to our country is indicative of the potential of Angolan businesses to establish themselves in the oil sector, which is a capital-intensive market with significant challenges, but also offers significant opportunities to generate value and recoup investments. The National Concessionaire congratulates the contractor group for its commitment and reaffirms its commitment to the success of each project’s Work Programs .”
The arrival of the SMS rig to drill new wells represents a significant investment by the Block 2/05 Contractor Group, in line with its commitment to contributing to increased domestic crude oil production. This milestone reaffirms the growing technical and financial capacity of Etu Energias and its Partners, demonstrating that we are increasingly prepared to generate value and confidently face the challenges of the sector . “
stated Edson R. dos Santos , CEO of Etu Energias.
